Seminar on Elimination of
female feticide and importance of Birth Registration>> |

Seminar
canopying the issue of elimination of female feticide
and need of necessitating birth registration was organized
under the baton of Plan India assisted Kopal program at
premises of local BDJJ inter college in Harli village of
Sadar block of Hazaribag district. Speakers jointly
stressed on the need to initiate steps to curb the rate of
female feticide and need to necessitate birth
registration. |

Workshop on National
Environment Awareness Campaign>> |

A day long
workshop of voluntary organizations regarding
“National Environment Awareness Campaign (2007-2008)” was
organized by Gram Vikas Kendra, Jamshedpur and facilitated
by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra, Hazaribag. Mr. Satish Girija,
Secretary, NBJK, in his inaugural address remarked that
Gram Vikas Kendra, Jamshedpur in association with Ministry
of Forest and Environment organizes several programs to
create awareness in the direction of environmental
conservation. It was specified that “Conservation of Bio
Diversity” is the issue of environmental awareness
campaign. It was also stressed that community
participation is also a must to make the campaign a
success. |

Capacity Building Workshop
on Readymade Cloth Production >> |

Two days
workshop on readymade cloth production was organized
by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra with financial assistance
from Cordaid, Netherlands. Workshop was a step forward to
hike efficiency in productivity and marketing strategies.
Objective was to make the participants efficient in
stitching, knitting and cutting works so that they can
earn their livelihood at ease. Mrs. Poonam Sinha and Mrs.
Usha Gupta from Birsa Munda Industrial Development
Institute acted as resource persons in the two day
capacity building workshop. 56 women from Chouparan,
Churchu, Barkagaon, Ichak, Visungarh and Sadar blocks of
Hazaribag district participated in the workshop. |

Workshop on Pre-Marital
Counseling>> |

Nav Bharat
Jagriti Kendra with assistance of Central Social
Welfare Board organized a two days workshop cornering
subject of pre marital counseling on 29th & 30th
September, 2007 at Annada College, Hazaribag premises. Mr.
Rajiv Ranjan, Program Director, NSS inaugurated the
workshop. A film pertaining to the aspects of marriage,
family and aids were shown to the participants. Sister
Breto, Dr. Enima, Dr. Ranjit Dubey were the main delegates
present in the workshop. |

Nukkad Nataks/Skit plays

Bharat Jagriti Kendra with financial assistance
from Helpage India, New Delhi under the baton of
the program “Sensitization and advocacy for the
elderly & access to government welfare schemes” staged
Nukkad Nataks/Skit plays in 12 villages of Sadar, 6
villages of Ichak and 3 villages of Katkamsandi blocks
of Hazaribag district. Small play entitled “Kal Hamara
Hai” was staged to create a familial environment
amidst the elderly sections. Skits were successful in
sensitizing the community regarding the intensity of
problems and humiliation elderly community face owing
to indecent behavior from co family members. |

Fifty
year old Sulochana devi is associated with micro
credit group run by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra. She
used to contribute partially in her husband’s beetle
shop. She always dreamt of making big one day. She got
the massage that NBJK promotes Self Help Groups and
provides loans to them to carry out income generating
activities. She along with 14 other women formed a
Self Help Group (SHG) and started savings in a weekly
basis. In the year she along with other group members
drew Rs. 1000/- as loan and invested the money to
enhance stock of the shop.. So far she has taken loan
of Rs. 108000/- and has been successful in
transforming the beetle shop into a general store. My
daily earnings has skied up to Rs, 200 to Rs.300
compared to my previous earnings of Rs.50 only. In
addition to this today I have the privilege of new
supply water connection, newly erected house and every
other basic amenities of life |

engineer etc of future genera. Please come forward and

Child labor prevention act of 1986 has been amended
in 10th October, 2006 prohibits children engaged as domestic
laborers, working in dhabas, hotels and restaurants,
industries, circus and other sources of entertainment. As
per child labor act, 1986 employing a child for any
hazardous or non hazardous activity is a punishable under
law. Whoever violates the law he or she will be sentenced
for a term of 3 months to one year and may be fined from
Rupees 10 thousand to 20 thousand. If one violates the
second time person can be pushed for six months to 2 years.
According to Supreme court’s directions employer have to do
a down payment of Rs.20, 000 to rehabilitate the victimized
child. |

through several ages like Stone age, Iron age, Jet age, and
Space age and finally landed up in the garbage age. Our
environment is being neglected in the blind race of
development. Come let us emphasize on cleaning up the waste
/ garbage surrounding us and keep our environment clean and
green.
