NBJK extends its arms to help flood hit victims>>

NBJK has initiated relief activities in flood affected areas of Bihar. Relief works in in blocks like Jhanjharpur, Madhepur (Madhubani), Manigachi, Tardih (Darbhanga), Kalyanpur, Warisnagar (Samastipur), Chanparia, Sikta (West Champaran) etc. are carried out in tandem with coordination of local level NGOs like Grameen Sewa, Mahila Vikas Asram, Jagriti Foundation, Lohiya Jayprakash Khadi Gramodaya Manav Vikas Sansthan and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Socio-Economic change. Mr. Girija Satish, Executive Director, NBJK, specified necessary items are being distributed amidst the flood affected families in this region. He expressed his gratitude towards Action Village India for providing Rs. 500000/- (Rupees Five Lacks only) to carry out relief operations in the area. He appealed every people to come forward and support the noble cause.

 

Press Conference>>

A press conference was called on August 21, 2007 to analyze the situation of flood in Bihar. Conditions prevailing in most affected districts of Samastipur, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sitamari, Darbhanga, West Champaran, and few parts of Bhagalpur were reflected in the conference. It was clarified that Action Village India (AVI, UK) took the initiative and appealed to the people of England to donate for carrying out relief operations in Bihar. It was clarified that till date Rs. 500000 (Rupees Five lacks) has been collected to be routed through NBJK to local level NGOs. Each of them has been felicitated with cheque of Rs. 50000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only) for distributing one polythene sheet for shed, 10 kg chura/sattu, candles to the most affected families.

 
Ek Mouka- Employability Training Program>>

NBJK with technical know-how from CAP Foundation, Hyderabad and with financial assistance from AIF and USAID initiated Ek-Moucka- Employability Training Program. The program is a measure to train and provide placement opportunities in different trades i.e. ITEs, CRS, Automobile repairing, White Good Services, Bed Side Patient Attendant and Spoken English to the disadvantaged youths who are school/college drop outs, poor and unemployed. Objective of the program is to train and place 5000 youths in a span of two years. For this purpose Employability Training Centers are set up in Ranchi and Hazaribag.

 

Eye Camp>>

Eye camp was facilitated by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in collaboration with District Blindness Control Society, District Disabled Rehabilitation Center and Prerna Rural Development Society at Silwar village of Sadar block of Hazaribag district. Ravin Prasad Singh, SDO, Hazaribag inaugurated the camp. 300 children underwent eye check up. State Bank of India, Bazar branch, Hazaribag will bear the cost incurred in eye check up and purchasing spectacles. Similar sort of activities was carried out in Barkagaon block of Hazaribag district where 500 children underwent eye check up.

 
Distribution of Certificates>>

5th September, 2007 saw certificates being distributed amidst female learners in Tara Akshar Center in operation under the PACS project. In this occasion Sri Prabhunath Sharma, Treasurer, NBJK congratulated the learners for successful completion of literacy curriculum. Mr. Krisna Kant Mehta, Pramukh, Meru Panchayat, Hazaribag district, addressed the neo literates the necessity of keeping in regular touch with newspapers and subscriptions.

Do you know?

Child labor prevention act of 1986 has been amended in 10th October, 2006 prohibits children engaged as domestic laborers, working in dhabas, hotels and restaurants, industries, circus and other sources of entertainment. As per child labor act, 1986 employing a child for any hazardous or non hazardous activity is a punishable under law. Whoever violates the law he or she will be sentenced for a term of 3 months to one year and may be fined from Rupees 10 thousand to 20 thousand. If one violates the second time person can be pushed for six months to 2 years. According to Supreme court’s directions employer have to do a down payment of Rs.20, 000 to rehabilitate the victimized child.
