Training Workshop on Curriculum Development>>

Two day Training workshop on Curriculum Development was organized by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra with financial assistance from REACH- India, USAID at premises of NBJKs training hall on 18th and 19th July 2006. Teachers of 3rd and 4th standards of bridge schools were oriented on the lines of curriculum improvement, methods of evaluation, curriculum planning etc. Mr. Nawal Kisore from Jharkhand Education Project provided valuable inputs in this respect.

 

Quarrel amidst mother in law and daughter in law solved>>

Mrs. Bindiya devi, daughter in law of Mrs. Geeta Devi always quarreled and finally decided to part away. Mrs. Bindiya devi filed a case at Family Counseling Center (FCC) of NBJK. Responding to this a date was finalized in which both the parties were summoned at FCC premises. The issue was discussed in depth and it was found that both the parties had committed mistakes. The case was resolved with both the parties signing on the court's agreement paper in front of witnesses.

 
Training Workshop on NREGA and RTI>>

Two days training workshops on the issue of NREGA (National Rural Employment Generation Act) and RTI (Right to Information) was organized on July 20 and 21, 06 for heads of voluntary organizations under the banner of Small Group Support Program. Resource persons capacitated the trainees about several guidelines/norms related to the program. Programmatic queries of participants were also answered successfully by the resource persons. It was also highlighted that how successful implementation of these programs can strengthen our developmental sector.

 

AIDS Awareness Training>>

Two day's capacity building session on different aspects of STD/HIV was scheduled at NBJK office premises on 20th and 21st July, 2006. Focus was laid on its causes and ways/means of prevention. Members of village health committee, self help groups and block level trainers participated and shared their views on the topic.

Symposium of Urdu Journalists>>

A day long symposium related to the issue of need of coverage of developmental issues in Urdu dailies was organized jointly by Srjan Mahila Samiti and Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra at premises of Srjan Mahila Samiti in Chakradharpur on July 12, 2006. 15 urdu journalists participated in the symposium. . Intensive discussions covering the issue and highlighting its importance in today's context were held. Mr. Satish Girija, Secretary, NBJK provided valuable inputs in this respect.

Capacity building on the issue Holistic Development>>

A day long capacity building schedule was organized at premises of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra under the banner of Credit Plus program on July 20, 2006. The trainees were capacitated on grounds of various government sponsored developmental schemes. The trainees were also facilitated on various benefits to be churned out after execution of such schemes. They were also provided an insight on various pressure tactics to enforce these schemes to benefit the people.

 
From Dusk to Dawn

Raamdeep never dreamt of going to school and getting educated. Poor family status forced him to drop out of school and soil hands in earning bread and butter for his family. NBJK staff motivated Ramdeep's parents to get him educated via NBJKs sponsorship program under which an individual sponsors a child to meet his/her educational needs. Today Ramdeep is sponsored and enrolled in Chandrakala Daga Devi school at Kewalia village in Chouparan block of Hazaribag district.

There are many poor students like Ramdeep who are barred of their educational rights due to poverty. You can come forward and sponsor a child to get them educated. Your pious support glorifies their lives.

   
SIDBI Releases Loan Shuffle in Administrative Wings

SIDBI has recently sanctioned organizations micro credit unit a loan of Rs. 45 Lakhs and enabled us to strengthen our credit rotation policy. This will not only enable to expand our canvas but also strengthen our objective to provide financial services to poor at their doorstep. It has also released an amount of Rs. I5 lakhs for organizations infrastructural support.

Mr. Rahul Purwar (DC, Hazaribag) was transferred this month. We shoulder you our gratitude. Mr. Shailesh Kumar Singh has taken charge as the new DC. NBJK family heartily greets him.

Rally to protest against Female Feticide>>

A rally was taken out from Bananchal Sishu Vidya Mandir of Jabra village in Sadar block of Hazaribag district to protest against female feticide. About 200 students participated in the rally and marched through the streets of Korrah, Babugaon and Matwari chanting slogans to stop female feticide. The rally finally ended up in school with school's principal, director and Sandipta addressing the rally.

 
Rally to demand Rights under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act>>

An eight day rally from July 4 to July 11, 2006 canvassing Magadh sub-division was organized demanding rights of National Rural Employment Guarantee Program under the leadership of regional coordinator Mr. Saudagar and Bihar State Lok Samiti Coordinator, Mr. Girija Shankar. The rally canvassing distance of 226 kms generated the need of awareness regarding the program and utility of the scheme to rural community. It was traced that large section of rural population are still unaware of the ongoing program.

 

Meeting on the issue of Registration>>

State level Swachik Manch and Jharkhand State Lok Samiti jointly organized a meeting at premises of Jaiprakash Conference Hall in NBJK, Ranchi on July 18, 2006. The meeting was convened by Mr. Girija Satish, General Secretary, National Level Lok Samiti. All the active members of Swachik Manch participated in the meeting and discussed on the subject of registration of voluntary organizations. Discussions highlighted the fact that applications from organizations were invited by state government but till date the organizations are not registered due to bribery in registration department. A decision was taken that on grounds of right to information, reasons will be seeked from registration department for not registering the voluntary organizations and which officer is responsible in this regard. Apart from this every organization decided on cent percent implementation of NREGP on one identified block of their project area.

Cleanliness drive is on in ward no. 5, 8, 9, 11, 13 and 14 of Hazaribag town. In this process 2345 households are covered from where waste is collected which includes the roads and drains as well. Please support 13 Safai Mitras engaged in process by paying Rs. 25/month.
