Visitors from Netherlands visits NBJK>>

Vander Heijden and Bakker from Lord Buddha Home For Children, Netherlands vested Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra premises. They visited observed various organizations' ongoing activities in Ranchi, Hazaribag, Koderma, Bodhgaya including main branch at Bahera village in Chouparan of Hazaribag district. They in detail queried about organization's implementation strategy. They provided inputs on how organization can explore various opportunities in the developmental sector.

Mr. Girija Satish sharing his views in Doctors meet

Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra organized a day long doctor's meet on issue of female foeticide elimination and birth registration at Hazaribag IMA hall premises on 18th November, 2006. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Girija Satish, Executive Director, NBJK highlighted the fact that immediate need of the hour is to eliminate female foeticide and promote birth registration. He also stressed that existing laws and acts should be judiciously executed to curb the issue. IMA president Dr. Rajat Chakraborty and Chief Guest Dr. S.K.Mallick echoed that all doctors must unite to curb the issue of female foeticide and promote birth registration. They also said that there should be a check in ultrasound clinics to curb the issue of female foeticide and birth registration should be made compulsory.

Mr. Teklal Mahto attends the foundation day functions

Mr. Teklal Mahto, M.P, Giridih was present in 20th November, 2006 ceremonizing the occasion of annual foundation day of Roshni Dhruv High School in Churchu block of Hazaribag district. He assured that funds will be allocated in near future to construct school boundary in front side of the school campus. Mr. Girija Satish, Executive Director, NBJK was also present in this occasion.

A press conference was organized by Bihar State Lok Samiti Unit on 27th November, 2006 at Sanrat hotel premises in Patna, the Bihar state capital, featuring irregularities in National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Mr. Girija Satish, Executive Director, NBJK, briefed the journalists that Bihar State Lok Samiti after conducting survey amidst 1890 families residing in 66 villages in 44 panchayats of 9 districts i.e. Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Vaisali, Gaya, Nawada, Patna, West Champaran, Jehnabad and Arwal districts of Bihar found out that after filing applications only 240 families have benefited. He said about various causes mounting the existing problem. Speaking to the journalists he said, Bihar State Lok Samiti is taking every initiative to execute fruitfully NREGA act in every parts of Bihar. In the conference speakers highlighted that journalists have a big role to play in changing the existing gloomy scenario.

Rally protesting failure of NREGA in Bihar

A rally was taken out under the banner of Bihar State Lok Samiti on 28th November, 2006 from Gandhi Maidan to R- Block in Patna, the Bihar state capital agitating against the failure of administrative wings in effectively implementing NREGA act in different parts of Bihar. Slogans were chanted demanding rights/benefits under the act by effectively executing the act. Mr. Girija Satish lead the rally from the front.

Ms. Himani Pandey, IAS, took over the charge as new District Magistrate of Hazaribag, replacing Mr. Sailesh Kumar Singh, IAS, former District Magistrate of Hazaribag.

 
Inauguration of houses constructed for fire hit victims>>

It was a normal morning in Rampur Baghel and Chakchand villages of Vaishali district of Bihar. Roughly around 9.30 a.m fire broke out in both the villages and within thirty minutes total village was burnt to ashes. 82 houses were burnt canvassing 14 cows, 9 buffaloes and 24 goats. Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in collaboration with Action Village India provided support to 82 families to construct their own houses. A function was organized to inaugurate the newly constructed houses. Mr. Girija Satish, Executive Director, NBJK was honored in the inaugural ceremony for his generous support in this direction. He was also presented model of houses constructed for fire hit victims of Rampur Baghel and Chakchand villages.

Destruction just after the fire broke out


House constructed under the banner of NBJK

20th June can be termed as black day in the lives of people residing in Rampur Baghel and Chakchand villages of Vaishali district of Bihar province. It was 9.30 a.m when Mr. Ram Lakhan Paswan's wife and Punaras Paswan's wife Rinku Devi were carrying on their regular activities. In the mean time Ram Lakhan Paswan's wife took her child for toilet purpose. She left her six month old child inside the room. Suddenly fire broke out. 6 month old child could not escape and was burnt to ashes. Slowly fire spread in whole village and turning it into graveyard within half an hour. 82 houses were burnt to ashes. 14 cows, 9 buffaloes and 24 goats died in this casualty.  Assets' costing fifty lakhs is believed to be destroyed in the fire. Pain sticking disaster could not change the apathetical mood of administrative wings. Circle officer Aniruddh Kumar distributed amidst few dali families Rs. 500. Apart from this some food grains were also distributed.

At this juncture of emergency, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in collaboration with Samta Gram Vikas Samiti arranged 3 tents and a generator to shelter the victims. Apart from this Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra bifurcated the villagers into three groups and bestowed the responsibility to groups to cook food for the victims in an alternative basis.

Thereafter, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra with able support of CASA, Kolkatta, distributed amidst the villagers a dhoti, a saree and a blanket each. After this Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in collaboration with Action Village India distributed Rs.4000/- per family to all the 82 families to construct houses. Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra and Action Village India holds a special place in villager's life. They feel that they provided them food and shelter at the time they were left alone to starve to death.

 
Workshop on female feticide and birth registration>>

A day long workshop organized by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra canopying the above mentioned issue was organized on 25th November, 2006 at Women's college premises. Dr. Ranjana Saran speaking on the occasion conveyed the college students that effective implementation of existing act can only curb the cause of female foeticide. She also said that birth should be made compulsory. Women's college principal also viewed her opinion in this regard. She also said that awareness should be generated in this respect. Sandip Tah and Suvro Mallick also spoke on the issue. Queries of college students were satisfactorily clarified.

World Aids Day celebrated>>

Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra celebrated World Aids Day at stadium premises in Hazaribag on 1st December, 2006. Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra put up a stall in this occasion. Learning materials were distributed and video show was conducted. Highlight of the occasion was quiz competition Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra's stall grabbed third prize in this occasion.

Cataract Eye Test Camp>>

Free cataract eye testing camp was organized by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra with medical assistance of Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Eye Hospital stationed at Bahera village of Chouparan at Jhumra and Barawar villages of Hazaribag. In Jhumra 87 patients were detected out of which 33 patients were found positive. In Barwar 67 villages were detected out of which 36 were found positive. Highly qualified doctors from Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Eye Hospital attend this check up camps. Cataract eye testing camps are in operation in other parts of Hazaribag, Koderma and Gaya districts.
