Sampoorna Kranti Diwas Celebrations>>

On the auspicious occasion of Sampoorna Kranti Diwas, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in association with Jharkhand Pradesh Lok Samiti organized a one day seminar on Extremism vs Peace at Jai Prakash Narayan Hall on 5th June, 06. Shri Babulal Marandi, Former Chief Minister, Jharkhand and President, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha graced the occasion. Speaking on the occasion he emphasized that education should be used as an effective tool to bring systematic changes.

He realized the fact that inappropriate development initiatives gives birth to extremism. He emphasized the need to percolate basic developmental initiatives amidst poor and the needy. Mr. Girija Satish, General Secretary, National Level Lok Samiti, narrated the fact that Sri. Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan advocated a program of social transformation in 1974 which he termed Sampoorna Kranti which aimed at bringing about a revolutionary change in all aspects of the life of both society and individual. Mrs. Kumud, Editor, Sambhawa, Women's newsletter, Mrs. Kaank, Editor, Sambhawa, Women's newsletter, Mrs. Kiran, Social activist and Mr. Sachidanand, General Secretary, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti also presented their views in this regard Similarly a rally was flagged off from Patna junction to Gandhi Maidan by Sri. Tripurari Saran, a senior associate of J.P. in seventy four's Bihar movement. Statue of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan was garlanded and a mass meeting was organized in Gandhi Maidan reflecting the need of sanity in today's public life.

In Bokaro Sampoorna Kranti Diwas was celebrated on 24th June. In this event personalities associated with the J.P. movement in Bokaro organized a common gathering and reflected various memories attached with the occasion. Mr. Girija Satish, Executive Director, NBJK highlighted the successful leadership qualities of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan.

Sampoorna Kranti Diwas was celebrated by Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Koderma, Palamau, Gadwa, Latehar, Lohardaga, Jamtara, Deoghar and Saraikela district Lok Samiti units.

 
Workshop on Female Foeticide and Birth Registration>>

Under the banner of Kopal project funded by Plan India, a two day orientation workshop dated June 5th and 6th, 2006 was organized for youths covering aspects of female foeticide, sex determination and birth registration at premises of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra coordination office. The program emphasized on motivating youths on the grave problems associated with the issue. Various causes of female foeticide were sighted. Detailed discussions on the medical aspects associated with the issue. Legal punishments associated with the cause under M.T.P act, 1971 and

P.C.P.N.D.T act 1994 was widely discussed in the plenum. Participants also came to know that various administrative measures are being carried out by State and Central government to make birth registration compulsory. Mr. Dinanath Sharma, Civil Surgeon, Hazaribag, Dr. Ranjana Saran, Gynecologist, Hazaribag, Mr. Anil Dubey, Advocate, Mr. Suresh Kumar Chowdhury, District Statistical Officer and Mr. P.N.Sharma, Treasurer, NBJK participated in the workshop.

 
Two Day Workshop on NREG Act>>

A two day workshop was organized covering various aspects of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act was organized at NBJK coordinating office premises in Hazaribag under the banner of PACS project. Different organizations canopying the PACS project areas were imparted every minute details of the act. Participants were also acquainted with need and importance of the act in the race to development.
 

   
Block Level T.O.T.>> Gopal Bal Vidyalaya>>

Block level T.O.T were carried out to develop block level master trainers who can capacitate Sahiyya at hamlet basis. Training was organized in two phases. From 7th to 11th June trainees from Bisnugarh and Ichak blocks were capacitated and in the second phase from 14th to 28th June trainees from Barkagaon and Sadar blocks were capacitated. The trainings were organized by NBJK at coordinating office campus were funded by Jharkhand Health Society.

Mushar community is believed to be most neglected and oppressed sections of the society. Developmental initiatives doled by government and other like minded agencies don’t percolate down to these sections. Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra has initiated school named Gopal Bal Vidyalaya in Shilaonja village of Bodh Gaya block in Gaya district, with an objective to provide educational facilities to children from these sections. The single teacher school presently has strength of 38 children.

Lok Samiti Foundation Day >>

30th Lok Samiti Fondation Day was celebrated at premises of District Lok Samiti cum Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra's coordination office. Mr. Satish Girija, President, Jharkhand State Lok Samiti, hoisted the Lok Samiti flag. Speaking on the occasion he said Samiti can achieve better results by working in coordination with voluntary organizations. Mr. Ramswaroop Bhai, senior member of JP movement stressed that measures should taken to lessen the problems of downtrodden classes by assessing their needs. Mr. Girija Satish, General Secretary, National level Lok Samiti voiced on speeding up organizational activities. He also viewed that person should have complete knowledge of government schemes and their process of execution to benefit the beneficiaries. Representatives from 35 districts of Bihar and Jharkhand participated in the workshop.

Foundation day was celebrated by Lok Samiti units of Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribag, Ranchi, Saraikela, Chaibasa, Gumla, Palamau, Lohardaga, Garwa and Simdega districts of Jharkhand and Patna, Hazipur, Arwal, Nawada, Gaya, Jehnabad, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Nalanda and Khagaria districts of Bihar.

 
Farm Pond - Means for Economic Sustainability>>

Farm ponds have been a successful tool to augment annual income and guide them towards achieving economic reliability/sustainability. In order to put this into practice Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra with financial assistance from Indo German Social Service Society has constructed a farm pond in remote Kulpani village of Pakuria block in Pakur District of Jharkhand. The pond is effectively used for fishery, farming and kitchen garden purpose. Concept of organic farming using Vermi compost has

enabled villagers realize importance and impact of surrounding soil and environment. They have realized the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers with regard to declination of water table over importance of switching over to organic farming.

 
Drive to Keep Hazaribag Clean>>

An initiative was taken up under the Clean Jharkhand Project from 5th to 24th June to mop up the waste from Ward no. 5, 8, 9, 11, 13 and 14 of Hazaribag district before the break of monsoon. Drains were cleaned up and waste was collected from 2, 300 houses. Anti malarial medicines were sprayed in the drains during the drive.

 
Chalkho Watershed - A Pilot Project>>

Foundation stone of Chalkho Watershed, financially supported by NABARD (National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development) and to be executed by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra was laid down at Kadudih village of Markaccho block of Koderma district. The watershed unit includes 553 hectares of land covering Kadudih, Telodih, Nawada, Gadi, Rajraydih and Nai Tanr villages. Addressing members of watershed committee and villagers, Mr. R.K.Anand, Deputy Geenral Manager, NABARD highlighted that NABARD is committed to bring wholistic development in 157 backward villages of

Markacho block. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Surendra Singh Meena, DC, Koderma, discussed need of awareness generation and different mode of functioning of district administration. Mr. Giridhari Thakur, DDM, NABARD pointed that joint efforts local community, NBJK and district administration. Background and experience of NBJK was detailed by Girija Satish, Executive director, NBJK. Mr. Mahendra Singh, Lead Bank Manager, Koderma district, Mr. Prabhat Kumar, BDO, Markaccho block and Mr. M.Z.Ali, Manager, Bank Of India, Markaccho Branch also participated in the inaugural ceremony.
