Achieving the goal
of a just and a developing society is not easy in India, more so
in Jharkhand and Bihar where good governance is still a distant
dream- where politics connotes muscle power and corruption -
where bureaucracy is marred by callousness - where judiciary is
extremely slow and tedious- where people still live in false
conscious. Till now Panchayat elections have not taken place in
Jharkhand. In Bihar the powers divested in PRIs (panchayati raj
institutions) are not properly used for the needy and the poor.
Similarly several government projects in these states are still
in the process of being implemented. The society in these two
states is sharply divided into different caste and religious
groups. The delays and the problems in justice leave many to
accept the exploitation by the oppressors. NBJK is taking
various initiatives to strengthen the voice of the poor. At the
same time it is supporting the state's activities by providing
quick and easy justice to the poor and also campaign against
crimes such as female foeticide.
