Objective: Multiplying the developmental
efforts by promoting and facilitating small voluntary groups and individuals.
Launched : 1992
Donor Partners : AVI, BFW,
CAA.
Voluntary Organizations form the backbone of the development of
any region. In Bihar and Jharkhand there are several voluntary organizations
that are committed towards social service but due to lack of technical, monitory
and intellectual support, they fail to perform properly. NBJK has perceived this
problem before and has developed a policy for strengthening the grass-root level
organizations since 1992.
NBJK provides financial, technical and intellectual support to small
groups through various workshops, seminars, and through exposure visits. Beside
that it also organizes Melas and other events for them to give their products
and ideas a chance to come in front of the mass. This year NBJK has conducted
over 90 workshops, held 45 training camps, and organized Gramshree Melas for
small voluntary organizations.
The result is impressive though quite implicit, for most of
the NGOS that are funded by NBJK in one particular year do not need its help
next year, as they get capacitated enough to get their own projects. Over 10
small voluntary organizations that used to get funds from NBJK last year started
directly receiving funds from the funding agencies without much of NBJK's
help
Trainings are a good source of learning especially when it is
conducted with the element of practice. NBJK imparted training to over 35 small
voluntary groups every month from Jharkhand and Bihar on issues like project
formulation, constitutional rights and office management
Water management is one of the important necessities for the
development of Bihar and Jharkhand. NBJK has been working on watershed since a
long time. The small voluntary groups were taken for exposure trips to Chauparan
to show the water management in those areas.
Computer and inter-net are the exigencies of the modern times
for activities related to development. NBJK imparted the basic know-how on
computers and the inter-net to the small voluntary groups.
On the other hand many voluntary organizations are networked
with NBJK for the execution of the projects. Reach India-Education Project is
networked with 10 Vos and PACS program is linked to 10 Vos while for the female
foeticide Plan India project is linked to 10 Vos. In the disability program, 25
Vos are linked to the community mental health program. Moreover, with the
support of SABLA, NBJK is promoting Jharkhand Viklang Vikas Abhiyan by
networking with 56 voluntary groups of Jharkhand from 19 districts.
